Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Reds assistant manage Pep Lijnders has been waxing-lyrical about Ben Woodburn.

The 21-year-old caught the eye against Osasuna on Monday evening, with fans taking to social media to give him all sorts of praise, and it’s not just supporters who have been impressed.

Indeed, Lijnders has had nothing but good things to say about Woodburn, claiming that he has a future at Anfield.

What’s been said?

Lijnders was impressed by Woodburn’s performance.

“Again, what a performance from Ben,” Lijnders said.

“The energy he brings to the team is exactly what we stand for. Football smart, a good mover and he unbalances the opposition constantly with the ball but also with his movement off it.

“I’m so happy for him. Like many of the team it didn’t come easy for him, but he has an Anfield future.”

Surprise

Woodburn seemed to be on his way out of Liverpool, but it seems as though he may now have a path to becoming a success at Anfield.

The youngster had been touted as the next big thing on Merseyside, but numerous underwhelming loan spells had seemingly hampered his development, and now he’s back on the right track.

Jurgen Klopp hasn’t used Ben Woodburn in a competitive setting since 2018, but it seems as though he may get a chance this term.

Who knows? Maybe Woodburn will be like a new signing for the Reds this season.
