Marc Kosicke – the agent of Jürgen Klopp – has been speaking about how the German found life at Liverpool during the chaotic 2020/21 campaign.
What’s the story?
Well, last season was a very difficult one for Klopp, arguably the most problematic of his managerial career so far.
The 54-year-old had to endure a significant injury crisis at Anfield, which robbed him of Virgil van Dijk for nearly the entire season.
Klopp also had to endure the death of his mother, and wasn’t even able to fly home to Germany for the funeral due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Speaking about how his client felt during the 2020/21 season, Kosicke told Sport1: “With Jürgen, topics came up that make the job more difficult. When you are in another country during the Corona period and you always have to see who is healthy, who is not, what happens next and when you can visit the family. We know that he gets headwinds when things don’t go well in terms of sport.”
It’s hard not to feel for Klopp.
The fact he somehow led Liverpool to third place in the Premier League, despite everything that happened, should be considered an amazing achievement.
Liverpool must already start planning for life after Jürgen Klopp

It’s quite obvious that Klopp has taken Liverpool to new heights since he replaced Brendan Rodgers in 2015.
Along with Michael Edwards – who is leaving at the end of the season – Klopp has done special things, but Fenway Sports Group (FSG) must ensure the good times continue after the duo leave.
In fact, they should start planning now, despite the fact Klopp’s contract expires in June 2024.

There are few managers on the planet who can match the former Mainz 05 manager’s ability, so FSG will need to think wisely about their next step.
Whatever happens, Klopp deserves a statue outside Anfield when he eventually leaves – he has completely transformed Liverpool.
