Sky Sports pundit Shay Given has criticised Arsenal midfielder Jorginho for his “antics” against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Given has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:59pm, May 7, 2023) that Newcastle fans were frustrated with some of the antics of Arsenal midfielder Jorginho.
The former Newcastle and Manchester City goalkeeper, though, has praised the Italian star for his performance for Arsenal.
The Sky Sports pundit has noted how the former Chelsea star slowed the game down.
Arsenal got the better of Newcastle 2-0 in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The win for the Gunners means that Mikel Arteta’s side have maintained their pressure on defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Given said about Jorginho: “He frustrated the Newcastle fans with some of his antics.
“He got challenged by Joelinton, I think, he went down like he got shot. He is clever. He slows the game down.”
Impressive performance
In our view, Jorginho played well for Arsenal against Newcastle United and was one of the best players on the pitch at St. James’ Park in the Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners were the better team, but Newcastle made it tough for them.
Jorginho, though, stood strong in the middle of the park and held his own.
The Italian did not make the best of starts as he got caught out, but he recovered well and imposed himself at the base of the midfield.
What was remarkable about Jorginho was his game-management.
The Italian showed against Newcastle just why Arsenal signed him from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
