Tottenham Hotspur should really consider a move for the Lyon forward this summer.
Tottenham need to bolster their attacking options this summer, that goes without saying.
Fernando Llorente has already been released, whilst Vincent Janssen clearly has no future in north London.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino would prefer to sign an attacker who is versatile and can operate on either wing or through the middle as an auxiliary number nine, according to Football.London.
And with this in mind, Tottenham should make a move for Lyon ace Memphis Depay this summer.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 outfit since moving to France from Manchester United for £21.7 million (BBC Sport) in January 2017.
Depay has racked up an impressive 39 goals and 41 assists in 116 appearances in all competitions for Lyon, and what a superb addition he could be for Spurs.
The Holland international possesses blistering pace, and has excellent dribbling skills. He also plays with a certain kind of directness that makes him ideally suited to Pochettino’s high-octane setup at Tottenham.
He would provide excellent competition to the likes of Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura in the wide attacking department at Spurs, but he would also be an excellent back-up for Harry Kane in the centre-forward position.
Depay could even play with the England international as part of a two-pronged attack.
There is a potential red flag for the north Londoners, though.
Tottenham will be wary of moving for the 25-year-old, after his failed stint at Manchester United. He is a far more mature on the pitch now, however, and seems to have evolved into a far better all-around player during his time in France.
His price-tag could also prove to be problematic for Spurs. The Mirror claims that Depay is valued at around £50 million, and Daniel Levy would surely be keen to get that price down, if they do decide to move for the Holland international.
Tottenham are expected to make a sustained push for the Premier League title next season, and Depay might just be the man to help them lift their first top flight trophy since 1961.
