Kevin Campbell blasted Lucas Torreira on the Highbury Squad and claimed that ‘he doesn’t want to play Arsenal’.
This is despite the combative midfielder seemingly wanting to fight for his place at Arsenal once again, as Football London reported.
Last season, Torreira, who joined the Gunners for £26 million in 2018 (Sky Sports), was on-loan at Atletico Madrid where things didn’t go well Uruguayan international.
Now that Torreira has returned, it seems as though he has had a change of heart, but Campbell isn’t having any of it.
“Lucas Torreira. let’s be honest, didn’t want to play for Arsenal,” said Campbell. “I don’t get some of this.
“Lucas Torreira didn’t want to come back to Arsenal. He doesn’t want to play for Arsenal. He made it abundantly clear. And, all of a sudden, now our fanbase are talking about ‘why is Torreira sidelined?’.
“What lies about Lucas Torreira doesn’t want to be at Arsenal? Where are the lies?
“All of a sudden now ‘I am right to fight for my place’. We never heard all of that last year. Where did you hear that last year? Never heard it.”

It would be a surprise to see Torreira make any sort of comeback for Arsenal now because when Mikel Arteta’s mind is made, it’s made up.
Just asked a certain Matteo Guendouzi!
It all started well, in truth, for Torreira when Unai Emery brought him to the club.
That goal against Tottenham will be remembered by the Arsenal fans, but that’s perhaps the only lasting memory they will have of him.
