Lucas Moura has claimed that Tottenham’s new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, is ‘more quiet’ than Jose Mourinho, as he told BBC Sport.
It may have taken Tottenham several months to replace Mourinho in the dugout, but they brought in his fellow countryman and an individual who has previously looked up to the now-Roma boss.
Slowly, but surely, Nuno is starting to make his own moves with this Tottenham side, including bringing in Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil this summer.
And Moura, who joined the club in 2018 for £23 million (BBC Sport), shared the instant difference between both Mourinho and Nuno, which might not surprise supporters.
“I am happy for Nuno because he speaks Portuguese like me,” said Moura. “Mourinho left the club and now another Portuguese guy come in, so for me, it’s easier for the communication.
“He did really well at Wolves. He can do very well here as well and we will do everything to help him.
“He is a very clever manager. He likes to play. But he doesn’t speak a lot. Mourinho is quite different. Nuno is more quiet.
“But every day we can learn another thing with him.”
Not many coaches would probably be able to match Mourinho when it comes to being vocal on the training field.
But it will be interesting to see how the different approach of the more relaxed Nuno affects this Spurs side.
They need picking up, no doubt, and if he gets off to an indifferent start then it could prove to be problematic for the former Wolves boss.
If Nuno starts well then it’s going to be rosy in the North London garden, but any signs of him stumbling then the typical ‘he wasn’t first choice’ will be thrown at him.
