Diogo Jota has lavished praise on the rarely-seen Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The 23-year-old has emerged as a real prospect for Liverpool over the past year or so.
When Alisson was injured last season, Jurgen Klopp turned to the Irishman instead of Adrian and now Kelleher is the Reds’ second-choice option between the sticks.
With the Brazilian being an ever-present figure, however, regular football has been limited for the Cork man.
Kelleher has only managed two senior appearances for Liverpool since February – both this season.
And although Jota has acknowledged that he doesn’t play very often, the Portuguese claims that Kelleher has ‘huge potential’ nonetheless.
He said on Twitch: “He’s a great keeper, his potential is huge, he’s not playing much but when you have a keeper like Alisson it’s hard!”
Big future
Jota is right.
There’s no doubting that this is a very promising goalkeeper.
Say what you like about Adrian – and most Liverpool fans do – but he’s a vastly-experienced shot stopper.
So for Klopp to rate Kelleher higher, at such a young age, speaks volumes for the lad.
There’ll be some frustration for him, because Alisson isn’t often injured or absent.
But being Alisson’s deputy is still better for him than being on loan because at this rate, he might be the Reds’ first-choice at some point in the future.
