Gary Neville has spoken about how Jurgen Klopp couldn’t even bare himself to watch Bukayo Saka’s game-winning penalty during Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Arsenal were awarded a spot-kick with less than 15 minutes left on the clock and Saka stepped up to punish sorry Liverpool to push his side back to the top of the Premier League table.

It was a game to forget for the Merseyside club, once again, as they fell further away from those near the top of the tree.

Not many would have expected it at the start, but that’s a 14-point gap that has opened up between Liverpool in tenth place and Mikel Arteta’s side leading the pack.

Liverpool do have a game in hand, but in truth, it will do little to paper over some massive cracks that are appearing at Anfield.

Nonetheless, as Saka stepped up to take his penalty for Arsenal over the weekend, Klopp had his eyes firmly away from the action, which was spoken about by Neville, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.

“Arsenal deserved it,” said Neville. “Jurgen Klopp doesn’t even watch. He doesn’t need to. He (Arteta) does.”

ARSENAL GAINING WHAT LIVERPOOL ARE LOSING

There is still a long way to go before the awards can be handed out, but during these early stages, Arsenal and Liverpool are going down two different paths.

If the Merseyside club have lost 20% from the previous campaign, then the current leaders have gained that.

The improvement of Arsenal shouldn’t be a surprise, but the further decline of Liverpool, added with the Gunners sitting at the top, perhaps should be.

Either way, it has been a while since Arsenal finished above Liverpool in the table and they surely can’t mess up this one given their current lead.
