Micheal Owen has claimed that Granit Xhaka ‘doesn’t learn his lesson’, as he reacted to the midfielder’s criticism of Arsenal.
After Arsenal were beaten at Newcastle on Monday night, Xhaka let rip at his Arsenal teammates by telling them to ‘stay at home’ if they weren’t up to the job.
Alan Shearer and Ian Wright were just some of the pundits who were also critical of the 29-year-old.
On one hand, some will feel that Xhaka is spitting the truth, but given how things have panned out for him in north London, it probably doesn’t shine him in a positive light.
Either way, speaking on Premier League Daily (18/05/22 at 12:50 pm), Owen was another former player who was critical of Xhaka’s recent actions.
“As you say, Granit Xhaka coming out and he’s let them down a fair few times over the years,” said Owen.
“Getting silly sending offs. Left them in the lurch. (Ten yellows and two reds for him this season), so he doesn’t learn his lesson either.
“If he’s the captain, then he’s not showing a great example, is he to those young players he is supposedly having a go at.”

XHAKA SPEAKING THE TRUTH ABOUT ARSENAL
During his time at Arsenal, Xhaka hasn’t exactly shone bright and he has been a headless chicken on occasions.
But, this current campaign, it has probably been his best to date, especially given that it is a young squad Mikel Arteta is building.
There’s no doubt Arsenal don’t have a top-four squad, but at the end of the day, given the meltdown at Manchester United, it has opened that door for them.
Plus, they were the ones seemingly running away with Champions League football, yet they have, somehow, handed over the keys to their bitter rivals, Tottenham.
That’s something that the players have to be held accountable for and they have themselves, and themselves only, to blame.
