Stiliyan Petrov says former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart, ‘doesn’t have enough credit’ for his career as he thrives at Celtic.

The 35-year-old left Tottenham in 2021 after Nuno Espirito Santo’s arrival and Joe Hart headed to Glasgow to join the all-dominant Celtic.

The former England international, who has two Premier League titles to his name, is now on course to win his second Premiership title in the colours of Celtic, as it’s a case of when, not if.

Hart had a number of troublesome years in England after leaving Manchester City, including warming the bench and struggling at the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham.

But he has found his feet in Scotland and for Glasgow’s biggest club, including on course to win a possible treble.

Petrov understands the difficult nature of playing for a club like Celtic and he hailed the underappreciated ‘leader’ Joe Hart is, as he told Sky Sports News (16/04/23).

“That’s him, that’s Joe Hart,” said Petrov. “You need leaders for a team that succeeds. It’s more difficult when you are doing well and you have to sustain that kind of level.

“He’s a leader and he supports others. He doesn’t have enough credit because Celtic dominates most of their games. He probably has to make a save everyone one or two games.

“Against Rangers the other day, at 1-1, Morelos gets a chance and he made sure that his team still stays in the game. This is what other people don’t see. He pushes others – when you have a player like that on the pitch, then he’s like a second captain.”

CELTIC MARCHING TOWARDS THE TREBLE

Ange Postecoglou has done a remarkable job at Celtic and is already a legendary figure in Glasgow, but it can get better for the Australian.

There is a chance the Bhoys can hit the 100 points mark and secure a possible treble, which would be a remarkable achievement.

But Postecoglou’s work at Celtic is getting recognised in England because he has been linked with several manager jobs in the Premier League, including Tottenham.
