Paul Scholes has praised Arsenal transfer target Gabriel Jesus for scoring four goals for Manchester City against Watford on Saturday.
The Premier League legend added that Jesus ‘doesn’t always get the reward’ for his performances in a Man City shirt.
The 25-year-old is on the north London’s transfer radar, with the Athletic reporting that talks have been held involving Arsenal’s technical director, Edu.
One thing is for sure, if Jesus does leave the Etihad in the summer, then his recent performances are putting his name up in brighter lights.
Not only does Scholes like the quality at Jesus’ boots, but he also likes how ‘humble’ the Brazil international is, as he told Premier League Productions (23/04/22 at 5:05 pm).
“If you are a forward player for Manchester City and you aren’t going to score goals, then there is something wrong with the ammunition they supply,” said Scholes.
“Really pleased for Jesus. Humble interview. He looks like a nice kid, He doesn’t always get the reward for his work really.
“I bet if you ask any of his teammates. They love playing with him. He works so hard to get the ball back. He really hasn’t got a set position, has he?
“Is he a right-sided player, does he play on the left or is he a central striker? But he popped up with four goals and I am really pleased for him.”

Jesus would be an outstanding purchase for Arsenal and a player that would suit Mikel Arteta’s style.
It needs to be remembered that Arteta worked with the player during his time at the Etihad.
So, from that perspective, he will now the player’s game inside out.
But, for Jesus, it’s not just the goals he brings to the table, but his ability to link-up play, move the ball quickly in the final third and find space in the attacking third.
