Paul Merson stated in a blunt fashion on Soccer Saturday (21/11/20 at 1:05 pm) that Jose Mourinho ‘doesn’t care’ about ‘entertaining’ at Tottenham.
Highlighting Mourinho’s days at Chelsea, Merson questioned how the three-time Premier League winner keeps his ‘world-class’ players ‘happy’ because he had a lot of them and he has a few in North London as well.
Whilst Mauricio Pochettino craved squad depth during his time at the club, Mourinho now has that in abundance, especially in the attacking department.
Regardless of what the perception is from the outside, Mourinho will always win his way and his way only, as Merson eluded to it before their clash against Manchester City, which was a Mourinho masterclass.
“When you always watch Mourinho, the one thing about Chelsea was how do you keep all these players happy?” said Merson. “How do you keep world-class players happy when he was at Chelsea and they were flying? That is him!
“He doesn’t care about entertaining. All he is worried about is lifting that trophy at the end of the season and whilst he is still there they have every chance [of winning the Premier League title].”

In truth, Tottenham supporters won’t care a jot how Mourinho delivers a trophy, as long as they are celebrating lifting silverware at the end of that campaign.
One thing is for sure, Mourinho pushes for every trophy, even the League Cup, which has been devalued by supporters and pundits in recent times.
But it’s a dangerous sign when a manager like Mourinho is sitting top of the pile having just beaten Man City and someone like Gareth Bale hasn’t even got started yet.
