Speaking on The Totally Football Show, Alan Shearer has been discussing Harry Kane as he named some of his favourite players of the Premier League era.
This week, we celebrated 30 years of the Premier League, and the competitions greatest goalscorer has been discussing some of his favourite players from this fantastic era of the beautiful game.
Unsurprisingly, Shearer is a huge fan of Kane’s stating that he loves the fact that the England captain hasn’t had anything handed to him on a plate.
What’s been said?
Shearer waxed-lyrical about Kane.
“Harry now, I’m a huge fan of Harry’s because he does it slightly differently. He’s had to do it the hard way, he had to go out on loan, nothing has been on a plate for Harry, he’s had to work extremely hard and he has worked at it. He deserves to be where he is and I know that he desperately wants that Premier League goalscoring record and he’s going to go all-out for it,” Shearer said.
Hard work pays off
Kane’s career shows that any footballer can achieve their dreams if they put the work in on the training ground.
Yes, the striker is supremely talented, but he didn’t get here by accident.
Unlike Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and numerous other teenage wonderkids, top-level football didn’t come easy to Kane, and he struggled out on loan at some lower-league clubs before making it in the Premier League.
However, after working his socks off, he got his chance at Spurs as a 21-year-old, and since then, he’s never looked back.
Kane is now a three-time Golden Boot winner, the England captain and, perhaps one day, he’ll take Shearer’s record as the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer.
