Niall Cummins told talkSPORT that Heung-Min Son didn’t want to be at Tottenham’s FA Cup win against Marine on Sunday.
The Marine captain jokingly shared that it was ‘comical’ that Son ‘had a blanket on him’ whilst he was sat on Tottenham’s substitute bench.
Son was an unused substitute for the David v Goliath showdown, but that didn’t stop Jose Mourinho from still using a number of his other key first-team players for the match.
Cummins shared that he saw it as a ‘compliment’ that Mourinho played Toby Alderweireld and Joe Rodon up against him as he also commented on Son sitting on the bench.
“I took my own position as a bit of a compliment because I noticed that he didn’t play kids against me,” said Cummins. “Alderweireld and Rodon played against me, so I took that personally as a bit of a compliment.
“When you did look on the bench you saw them laughing and giggling away. I think Son was making a lot of jokes.
“I think he didn’t really want to be there. I think he had a blanket on him. Bless him! It was comical to see I must admit.”
It was a day to remember for the Marine players, the club and the community as a whole.
It’s what the FA Cup is all about and the only crying shame was the fact that supporters weren’t allowed into the stadiums.
But that still allowed part-time players to compete against some of the best players in the world, as Mourinho respected the competition by playing a strong squad.
