Ian Wright was critical of Marin Odegaard during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday night.
The Highbury legend claimed that Odegaard ‘didn’t do enough’ at St James’ Park, as Arsenal well and truly shot themselves in the foot.
Even after losing to Tottenham in the north London derby last week, and Antonio Conte’s side’s win against Burnley on Sunday, Champions League football was still in the hands of Arsenal.
But, back-to-back defeats, at the wrong time of the season, have now handed over the keys to Spurs.
The heat has seriously been on this Arsenal side for a long while now and Wright was left frustrated on Premier League Productions that the players weren’t playing well under pressure.
“People just have to play well under pressure,” said Wright. “Odegaard didn’t do enough for me.
“Get the ball into Emile Smith Rowe, get it into Saka on the move – we didn’t do enough.”

ARSENAL BLOW THEIR CHANCES OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL
This young and ever-progressing Arsenal side could have stuck their chests out if they were on that Champions League train heading into the summer.
It would have done many inside the Emirates, from the manager to the young stars, the world of good.
But now, the Gunners have to hope that already-relegated Norwich somehow pull off the miracles of all miracles on the final day of the Premier League season.
Either way, with it looking likely that it will be Europa League football, it will be interesting to see how Arsenal fans react to that end result.
