Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has shared Paulo Fonseca’s thoughts about Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici after his talks with Tottenham broke down.
For all the world it seemed as though Fonseca was being prepared to be announced as Tottenham’s next manager, but at the eleventh hour, things fell apart.
Fonseca had detected that something wasn’t quite right at Spurs, with Gold claiming that he thought Levy and Paratici had a differing view on what type of manager they wanted.
What’s been said?
Gold shares what people close to Fonseca told him about his view on Levy and Paratici.
“What I would say, what I was told by people close to Fonseca is that he did notice during talks in Italy is that when he spoke to Daniel Levy, Levy very much wanted a coach like him with an attacking, entertaining, open way of playing.
“However, he felt that Fabio Paratici wanted something different, he wanted a more conservative approach, someone who was focused on a defence first, but also wanted to score goals, but someone where very much the foundations were built on the defence, that’s what he felt.
“He still thought ‘ok, that’s just two slightly different views within Tottenham’ and the deal is going to happen.”

What a mess
It’s no wonder Tottenham’s search for a new manager has been such a shambles if this is the case.
Levy and Paratici seem to be at odds about what type of manager they should be going for, and they need to get on the same page if they’re going to find the right man.
It’s been two months since Jose Mourinho was sacked, and Spurs somehow still don’t have a new gaffer in place.
It’s fair to say this has been a bit of a mess at Spurs.
