Gary Neville told Sky Sports (26/10/20 at 7:10 pm) that Jose Mourinho’s mood has changed at Tottenham to someone who is now ‘really happy’ after previously being ‘angry’ at Manchester United.
It has been a testing few years for Mourinho, who was criticised for the job he did at Old Trafford despite winning two trophies and has since returned to management with Spurs.
If Mourinho can replicate those trophies he won in his previous job in North London then there’s no doubt that he will be appreciated more.
Neville shared how Mourinho’s mood isn’t the only thing which has changed, but the defensively sound coach is also changing his tactical methods.
“I played against Jose Mourinho’s team in his early managerial career at Porto and Chelsea,” Neville told Sky Sports. “They were the most outstanding football teams. The Inter team was outstanding and he has success at Real Madrid winning leagues.
“But in the last few years he has been labelled, and I think it’s hurt him a little bit, with a certain style of play. Almost a non-dominant possession style of football. I think the way the game has gone during these last few years and the perception of the game through the coaching style of a Pep Guardiola. When they both came to Manchester, it was almost like a face-off between them.
“And Pep won. Hands down! I think that hurt Jose. I think his time spent in the media after the Manchester United job. The club are going through a transition Tottenham, but I also feel Jose’s also going through a transition into the second phase of his career.
“He’s trying to adapt his own style of management maybe. Different to what he did when he was at Manchester United, where he did look angry, at times and a little bit unhappy. I think he looks really happy at Spurs and there has definitely been a change at Spurs – possession is higher, more successful passes, more chances created in open play, more short passes and the goalkeeper’s passing out from the back more.”

Tottenham recorded a 1-0 win at Burnley on Monday night with many questioning whether Mourinho can help guide them to the Premier League title.
With an attacking line containing the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son then there’s no reason why Spurs cannot shock the world, not forgetting a certain Gareth Bale in the background.
Added with that, both Liverpool and Manchester City are facing their problems this season and it does seem as though a door is open for someone to surprise the world and lift that Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
