Andy Robertson has been speaking to the media after Liverpool hammered Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield to go top of the Premier League.

Liverpool’s No.26 was obviously delighted with the result, and found time to praise Jordan Henderson for his role in the rout on Merseyside.

What’s the story?

Well, Robertson felt the £20m man “set the tone” for the Reds last night with his intensity, causing others to do the same.

As quoted by Liverpool’s official website, the Scotland international said: “Hendo set the tone first five, ten minutes with his pressing and with his high energy, everyone just followed suit. That’s what a captain does, and Hendo’s done it many a time for us, he did it again tonight. We all fed off his energy.”

Now, some Liverpool fans have complained about Henderson in recent weeks, as they prefer seeing the trio of Fabinho, Thiago and Naby Keita.

However, you simply cannot understate what the England international brings to this team.

No team can deliver a performance as dominant as last night’s 4-0 win without everyone pulling their weight, and Henderson proved his worth emphatically.

As WhoScored shows, Henderson was brilliant for the Reds last night.

The 31-year-old had two shots, and completed four long-range passes as he finished the game with a pass accuracy of 89.4%.

Henderson also made two interceptions and one tackle, in addition to having 106 touches of the ball.

In truth, some things – like what Robertson pointed out – can’t be picked up by statistic sites.

There’s no doubt that Henderson does a lot behind the scenes to ensure standards do not drop at Anfield, which is arguably the most pivotal thing.

Alongside Thiago and Fabinho, the Liverpool No.14 helped things run smoothly in the midfield department.

For anyone doubting the ex-Sunderland man, he silenced them with his excellent performance against the Red Devils.
