Steven Naismith has said on PLZ Soccer that reported Celtic target Declan Gallagher could be the subject of interest from clubs in England.

Celtic are interested in signing Gallagher in the summer of 2021, according to a report in TEAMtalk in March.

The 30-year-old Scotland international central defender is out of contract at Motherwell at the end of the season, according to the report, which added that ‘interest from the Hoops has turned his head over his future plans’.

Former Rangers star Naismith believes that Gallagher deserves to play for a bigger club than Motherwell, and the Heart of Midlothian man also thinks that teams from England will come in for him.

Naismith said about Gallagher on PLZ Soccer: “I think he deserves a move, and I could see somebody in England come in for him at some point.”

Celtic move this summer?

The report in TEAMtalk did claim interest from Gallagher in Cardiff City and Barnsley in the Championship in England.

A move to England could be very tempting for the Scotland international centre-back, but Celtic are a massive club, and the chance to play for the Hoops could be hugely appealing to the 30-year-old.

Moreover, Gallagher was at Celtic as a youth player but could not establish himself in the first team, and he might feel that he has unfinished business at Celtic Park.
