Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has tipped Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus to be one of the Premier League’s signings of the season ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking to BBC Sport, the pundit lauded the arrival of the Brazillian attacker with Edu Gaspar signing the former Manchester City star for a reported £45m, with Jesus impressing greatly in pre-season as the forward bagged seven goals across the summer.
After such a hot streak in pre-season, it’s no wonder why so many fans and pundits are exciting by Jesus, especially Warnock, with the BBC Sport expert saying ahead of the new Premier League campaign: “I am a huge fan of Gabriel Jesus. He could be the signing of the season.”
With the Gunners kicking the new season off against Crystal Palace this Friday, Jesus will have an early chance to impress Arsenal fans if he is able to get on the scoresheet against the Eagles, a club Mikel Arteta’s side lost 3-0 to last year at Selhurst Park.
Indeed, Jesus’ performances will be key to Arsenal’s hopes for top-four, and with the attacker in scincilating form over pre-season, early signs suggest that the Gunners could have a superstar on their hands if he can maintain this level of quality when the fixtures really start to matter.
Arsenal famously lost their opening game of last season to Brentford, and fans will be expecting a complete 180 this Friday against Palace, where Jesus is expected to start alongside the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, with William Saliba also likely to make his professional debut for the Gunners.
Jesus could be one of the signings of the season if he hits the ground running

Arsenal have filled the need for a quality no. 9 this summer in Jesus, and whilst the attacker’s pre-season form has been incredible, none of it will matter unless the forward can hit the ground running in the Premier League, a sign that the striker really could be one of the signings of the summer.
After all, Arsenal have a relatively easy start to the season, and Jesus can score some major points if he is able to find the net multiple times against the likes of Palace, Leicester City and Fulham, and fans will be expecting big things from the forward for the upcoming season.
