Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Luis Diaz could have played better against Fulham today.

Klopp has praised Diaz, who joined Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but he believes that the Colombia international winger could have done better against Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London in the Premier League.

Liverpool played out a 2-2 draw with Fulham in their opening Premier League game of the season on Satuday.

The 25-year-old started the match on the left of a front-three and played for 78 minutes.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Luis Diaz

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Diaz: “Lucho is a great player, a fantastic player, but today he had a massive chance, super chance.

“Look, for offensive players on a day like this, it’s really not easy because they defend massively from how they get set up, how the deliveries are – and we didn’t play well enough to bring them in the right moments.

“But when we were there, then you can see immediately how good Lucho is, how one-one, crossbar or post, I don’t know exactly, but close. Yeah, brilliant player but he can play better than today – like all the South Americans.”

Disappointing performance

Liverpool were disappointing against Fulham at Craven Cottage, and like a few of his teammates, Luis Diaz did not have the best of games in London.

The Colombian did play well in the first half, but he was quiet in the second period and was eventually taken off.

Diaz had a goal ruled out for offside, and he was also denied by the frame of the Fulham goal.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Diaz, but we all know how good the winger can be, and we are confident that he will get back to his best soon.
