Kevin Campbell has said on the Highbury Squad podcast that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window due to the injury to Gabriel Jesus.

The former Arsenal striker has said that since former Manchester United winger Zaha can play as a striker, he would take him over Cody Gakpo and Mykhailo Mudryk right now.

Jesus is the number one striker for Arsenal, but the former Manchester City star has suffered an injury with Brazil at the ongoing 2022 Qatar World Cup.

There is speculation that the Brazil international striker will be out of action for three months.

Kevin Campbell would love Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha at Arsenal

Campbell said: “I would probably take Zaha because he can play as a striker as well as he can play out wide.”

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, Arsenal are unlikely to be able to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window.

Yes, the 30-year-old is out of contract at Palace at the end of the season, but the Eagles will surely rather lose the £130,000-a-week (SalarySport) on a free next summer than have to cash in on him in the middle of the season.

After all, the former Manchester United winger is arguably the best player for Palace.

Zaha has scored six goals and provided two assists in 13 Premier League appearances so far this season.
