Graham Potter has been urged to snub a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Brighton & Hove Albion coach is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar as they bid to replace Jose Mourinho in North London.
According to The Daily Mail, Spurs’ technical director Steve Hitchens will recommend the 45-year-old coach to chairman Daniel Levy.
Potter has done a stellar job at keeping the Seagulls in the Premier League and his side have even beaten Tottenham this season, at The Amex.
But former Albion star Warren Aspinall has told BBC Sussex that he feels Potter will – and should – turn the job down due to a lack of long-term security.
He said: “He can go to Spurs, could have one season and be out of the door, so yes, it is a big decision for managers. But, I think Graham Potter is a wonderful manager [but] it might not be right for him in this situation in his career. So that’s what I think, yes, they [Brighton] will knock it back for sure and I think Graham Potter will, he has got loyalty to Brighton football club.”
Potter might not knock it back, though.
The 45-year-old is certainly ambitious and moves to Tottenham don’t come along everyday.
If he feels like he can improve Spurs then he could and should seriously consider it.
With respect to Brighton, there’s only so much he’s going to be able to do down there, on their budget.
At Tottenham, he’d have much bigger figures – and players – to work with and it isn’t guaranteed that he would turn it down.
