Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast by Sky Sports, that Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders has started calling Fabinho ‘the Lighthouse’.
Carragher, himself, actually admits that he doesn’t know what the nickname means.
However, the Sky pundit assumes that it is meant of a term of endearment, due to the quality that the Liverpool man possesses.
“I think he’s the best in the Premier League in that position. He’s got a nickname by one of the coaches Pep Lijnders, he calls him the lighthouse. I’m not sure what that means but I think it’s a good thing,” he said.
“I think it’s huge to have him in that position. Klopp said he wishes he could have played him in that position a lot more this season. Well he could have.
“He could have played the centre-backs that he has, he could have played Rhys Williams there at times, but he’s put him back in there as it’s almost the last throw of the dice in the centre-back positions.”

Fabinho’s importance to Liverpool has been highlighted of late, with the Reds’ improving dramatically since his move back to the midfield.
Fabinho had been playing in central defence for much of the season.
However, Jurgen Klopp has deployed the Brazilian in midfield over Liverpool’s last two games and they have kept clean sheets in both.
Fabinho has proven a hugely effective shield in front of the Reds’ makeshift backline.
And he will surely continue in a more advanced role, as Liverpool push to reclaim a place in the top four.
