Speaking on the Square Ball Podcast, Angus Kinnear has given an update on Andrea Radrizzani’s reported plan to buy a European feeder club for Leeds United.
The Italian has reportedly been keen to purchase a number of European clubs to build something of an empire to help the Whites land more young talent from the continent, and he’s even been linked with purchasing La Liga giants Valencia.
It seems as though there is some credence to those rumours as well as Kinnear has claimed that buying a European club is something Radrizzani is keen on.
“I think when the rules are finally defined, that’s something that if it makes sense to do and it can be done then that’s something that people will be looking at.
“Andrea has never hidden the fact that he believes that a model of European clubs or a collection of European clubs under the same ownership has some benefits in terms of scale and player development and potentially commercially, and that’s something he’ll continue to look at.”
Kinnear went on to say that uncertainty about immigration laws due to Brexit may hamper these plans.
“But until the immigration rules are defined for the long-term it’s impossible to know whether or not a feeder club would be the best solution and then the best location to make it work best.”

We can only imagine that Kinnear has had many a conversation with Radrizzani about buying a European club to help Leeds, and it seems as though the Italian thinks that it’s a good idea.
Unfortunately, it seems as though these plans depend on what happens with Brexit, and at the moment your guess is as good as ours on that front as everything still seems to be very up in the air.
