Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Antonio Conte has been discussing Jurgen Klopp and his comments about Spurs after their draw with Liverpool last weekend.
It’s fair to say that Klopp was critical of Spurs’ style of play at Anfield. Claiming that such talented players should play in a more expressive way and that he couldn’t possibly coach a team to play in such a manner.
Inevitably, Klopp’s comments caused a huge stir on social media as Liverpool and Tottenham fans backed their respective managers.
However, while fans online were getting at each other’s throats, the two managers were quick to bury the hatchet. Klopp quickly issued an apology in his next press conference, while Conte has now claimed that he has great respect for the German.
What’s been said?
Conte spoke about Klopp after his apology.
“I have great respect for Jurgen and I know he was very frustrated with the final result, and I have seen that and he apologised about what he said. I watched the game and and many times in the game you could see a situation that you imagined in your mind, but the day after you can see a different game. I watched and we played to win and we tried to attack whenever we had the ball. Liverpool gained one point, not lost one point because we had the best chances,” Conte said.

Emotional
As Conte says, he can understand that Klopp was frustrated after the final whistle on Saturday, and we can certainly empathise with the German.
Every game at this point of the season is must-win for Liverpool, but Spurs managed to hold them to a draw. Of course Klopp will be a tad annoyed after the game.
However, now that the dust has settled, it’s fair to say that this whole situation has been slightly overblown.
