Tottenham wonder-kid Troy Parrott has aura of Kane

Tottenham Hotspur squeezed through in the FA Youth Cup against Millwall and Troy Parrott was the star of the show.

Troy Parrott inspired Tottenham Hotspur to victory in the FA Youth Cup against Millwall and has smatterings of Harry Kane about his play.

The 16-year-old was the star of the show in a hard fought comeback win against the South Londoners.

Spurs were losing 1-0 right up until injury time, before the lively J’Neil Bennett popped up with an equaliser, before Rodel Richards found the winner in extra time, after great build up play from Parrott.

Parrott timed his run to perfection, showed a great burst of pace despite having already played almost 100 minutes, rounding the ‘keeper before squaring to Richards for an easy tap in

The move typified an outstanding performance from the Republic of Ireland youth international: tenacious, positive and full of quality.

Of course, Parrott has a long way to go before he can match fellow academy graduate Kane’s achievements, however, there is no doubt the striker has an air of similarity to the England international.

Both Kane and Parrott are technically outstanding footballers who offer so much more than goals.

Parrott showed throughout the game how he is happy to drop in to link with his teammates with his hold up play, passing ability and intelligence on the ball.

His teammates would regularly give the ball to Parrott in difficult situations, however, the Irishman would always secure the ball with a clean touch and make the right decision.

When Parrott does get into goal-scoring positions, he is a ruthless finisher, proven by his outstanding return of 12 goals in 18 youth games for Spurs this season.

However, where Parrott and Kane are most similar is the killer instinct and game understanding both forwards possess, qualities which often bridge the gap between academy and professional football.

Of course, the youngster will have many hurdles to cross before he becomes as established as Kane, however, do not back against the Irishman’s ability, fight and burning desire to make it happen.
