The French international has fired a warning shot to Premier League rivals.

Moussa Sissoko has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur remain in the hunt for the Premier League crown.

The midfielder has undergone a renaissance this season, and is now considered an important member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Sissoko has even been recalled to the French national squad by Didier Deschamps, and has started the last five league games, a feat he has not managed since his mega move from Newcastle in 2016.

The 29-year-old now claims in-form Spurs should be considered as title contenders.

“Every season, this league becomes more difficult, but we have to stick together and play our game, and do the right things to try and hopefully get something at the end of the season,” Sissoko told Goal.

“It won’t be easy because Liverpool are here, Chelsea are here, Manchester City and Arsenal are here and it will be a tough battle.

“But we have the quality to answer them.”

Sissoko has become somewhat of a cult hero for Spurs fans this season, with his impressive performances and work rate helping Pochettino’s side to fourth place in the table and their best ever Premier League start.

Chants from the Spurs faithful towards the Frenchman used to be ironic, crying out “who needs Bale, when you’ve got Sissoko”.

It is unlikely Sissoko will ever truly be appreciated in the same vein the Welsh wizard once was, however if he can help Tottenham win their first ever Premier League title, the groans and moans over the midfielder will become a thing of the past.
