Graham Roberts has backed Harry Kane to break both his club, and country’s goalscoring record.

Spurs legend Graham Roberts believes Tottenham and England star Harry Kane will become his club and country’s highest ever goalscorer.

Kane scored arguably his most important goal for England on Sunday afternoon, netting a late winner against Croatia to send the Three Lions to the Nations League finals in the summer.

It took the striker’s tally for his country up to 20 in just 35 games.

England’s current top scorer Wayne Rooney took 49 games to reach that feat.

Kane has also scored 150 goals in 229 games for Spurs, which leaves him fifth in the clubs all-time top scorers list, with Jimmy Greaves the current holder on 266.

With Kane just 25-years-old, it leaves the striker with plenty of time to break those incredible feats.

Tottenham’s former defender Graham Roberts, who won the UEFA Cup and FA Cup during his time at the North London club, has backed Kane to go all the way on Twitter.

What makes Kane’s current goal-scoring exploits even more impressive is the short time frame it’s taken him to reach the current landmarks.

Kane only became a regular starter for Tottenham Hotspur at 21-years-old.

Rooney by comparison had already joined Manchester United for £25.6 million when he was 18, and made his debut for England when he was only 17 against Australia.

It is to Kane’s credit then that he is even in contention to break the Manchester United and England legends record, after a less than glamorous start to his professional career.

Unsuccessful loan spells at the likes of Norwich City and Leicester City raised doubts as to whether or not the current England captain would even be able to forge a Premier League career.

However, two Premier League and one World Cup golden boot later, Kane is arguably the best striker in Europe.

There will be those who will still doubt Kane and his ability to become England’s and Spurs’ greatest ever scorer, but the striker has a habit of proving his doubters wrong time and time again.
