Gareth Bale has debunked any rumours about how he is feeling at Tottenham, as he told Match of the Day 2 that he is ‘happy’ and ‘having fun’.
It’s been a slow burner for Bale at Spurs, and given that he is on-loan at the North London club from Real Madrid, a lot has been said about his mood and whether Daniel Levy was right to bring him back.
EuroSport previously reported that Jose Mourinho was ‘never fussed’ about signing the dead-ball specialist.
Added with that, Spanish outlet SPORT claimed that Mourinho lost confidence in the player and Bale was going to see out his contract at Madrid when his loan spell ended this summer.
Well, given that the Wales international has hardly played for two years, it was understandable that his body was going to take time to adjust to his talents.
And on Sunday, when Bale netted a brace, he made it clear that he has been ‘happy all season’ to debunk any myths about him potentially being unhappy.
“I have been happy all season,” said Bale. “It’s great to be back and in the dressing room where I feel comfortable and having fun.
“But I am happy and I am sure that shows on the pitch.”
Bale isn’t going to put up great numbers like a Mo Salah or his teammate Harry Kane, although he’s not done bad compared to the number of starts he has had.
But from now on, it’s all about efficiency for Bale and providing the goods when Spurs need it most – Europa League, that upcoming fixture against Arsenal and the League Cup final.
If the Welshman can get Spurs into Europe and win a trophy at the end of the campaign then he will shut a lot of people up.
