Charlie Nicholas has been speaking to the media following the end of the transfer window, and he’s had some comments to share on Celtic’s business.
The ex-Hoops player criticised his former side’s activity in the market, and said that Neil Lennon will be putting on a brave face after failing to receive what he wanted from the window.
Nicholas told The Express (via The Daily Record): ‘I’d imagine he’ll be pretty annoyed this morning. I am sure he will put on a brave face but I don’t think he will have got anything close to what he was looking for.’
Lennon hit back at these claims after word spread.
The Daily Record quote the ex-Bolton manager as saying: ‘If we had signed Messi and Ronaldo, Charlie still would have found fault with it. He’s been negative about the club for years.’
Celtic managed to keep their best players at Celtic Park, such as Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer.
Additionally, Uruguay international Diego Laxalt was signed from Italian giants AC Milan, while exciting midfield prospect David Turnbull also arrived.
Celtic legend Chris Sutton also got involved, taking to Twitter to say that he thinks keeping the best players while adding another left-sided option in Laxalt represents a good window for the Bhoys.
How Nicholas views that as a failure is hard to tell – however, he is entitled to his opinion.
Having said that, it is an opinion that definitely hasn’t gone down well with the Celtic fans on Twitter, who have taken to Twitter to voice their disagreement.
