Leeds United fans have been left stunned by the fee Aston Villa have decided to pay for Ollie Watkins services.

BBC Sport have claimed that Villa have splashed a club-record £28 million for the Brentford hitman and the fee could rise to £33 million depending on performances.

Leeds smashed their own transfer record as well when they paid Valencia £26 million for Rodrigo’s talents, as reported by BBC Sport.

Rodrigo, 29, is five years older than Watkins and has played for a top-flight club before, as well as being a Spain international.

But Leeds fans made their feelings clear that those in the West Midlands have paid a ridiculous amount for Watkins talents.

A selection of them feel that Rodrigo is better value than the Englishmen and it will be interesting to see how both perform with the new Premier League season set to start at the weekend.

Leeds United’s first six fixtures of 2020/21

  1. Liverpool (A)

    September 12

  2. Fulham (H)

    September 19

  3. Sheffield United (A)

    September 26

  4. Manchester City (H)

    October 3

  5. Wolves (H)

    October 17

  6. Aston Villa (A)

    October 24

The main aim for both clubs is to maintain their top-flight status, but for Villa, they will want to improve on their last-day survival from last season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men will be hoping to use the momentum from promotion to try and emulate previous newly-promoted sides in Sheffield United and Wolves, who produced top-half finishes in their first season.
