West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Daily Mail linked the Hammers with a move for Crystal Palace’s James McCarthy.

How have they reacted? Well, to put it short, they’re not too happy.

Supporters of the east London-based outfit have not forgotten something that the Republic of Ireland international did back in 2015.

With the Hammers well on course for a place in the Champions League, McCarthy scissor-tackled Dimitri Payet, injuring him in the process.

The talismanic Frenchman missed three months of football as a result.

At the time, the Daily Mail revealed that West Ham were left furious with the Irishman for the challenge, which he was only booked for.

Football fans have a long memory, as over five years on from that incident, the West Ham fans still haven’t forgotten what McCarthy did.

Despite the bad blood between club and player, the Crystal Palace No.22 would actually be a decent signing, in our view.

However, there is obviously a major conflict to overcome if the move happens.

Let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying about the £3 million Crystal Palace man…
