On his podcast, David Seaman has been reacting after Arsene Wenger claimed Arsenal could win the Premier League title this season.
Wenger, somewhat interestingly, tipped his former club to challenge for the title this season, and that is intriguing to hear coming from Wenger. After all, the Frenchman isn’t the most outlandish optimist in the world.
However, while Wenger thinks Arsenal could challenge, Seaman disagreed with his stance that no team is standing out this season, stating that his former club, Manchester City, are already looking like champions-elect this term.

City’s to lose
Seaman disagreed with the view that Arsenal could win the league due to City’s brilliance.
“Not with how City are playing. I saw that (Wenger’s comments), and he said that there’s no team really performing well and I was like ‘have you not been watching Man City?’ It could happen, but it’s like when Leicester won it, there wasn’t one dominant team then. But at the moment I can’t see us beating Man City. Liverpool are having a wobble at the moment but that will stop soon. It might be a season or two too early for us,” Seaman said.
Can’t see past them
Seaman is absolutely right. It’s impossible to see past City as the Premier League champions already.
They’ve won four of the last five titles for a reason and with Erling Haaland firing on all cylinders, they look better than ever before.
Arsenal have plenty of momentum behind them and they are top of the league, but it has to be said that their fixture list to date has been favourable to say the least.
In their most challenging game of the season against Manchester United, Arsenal lost, and with all of the top teams still left to play, we still have a lot to learn about this squad.
Arsenal should be top four contenders, but as the pundit says, it’s a year or two too soon to call them title challengers.
