West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini opted to loan Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion.

It is not yet clear whether Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to loan Grady Diangana to West Bromwich Albion will turn out to be a masterstroke or a mistake for West Ham United.
West Ham decided to let Diangana go on loan to get him regular game time, and he has made a blistering start at West Brom.
Diangana has scored three times in his first two appearances for the Baggies, and he completely turned Slaven Bilic’s side’s match against Luton Town around at the weekend.
West Brom were losing at half-time, but Diangana came on to score a brace and give his side the three points.
West Ham are sure to have been looking on at the impact Diangana made, and there is a real question mark over whether they have anyone in their current squad who could do something similar.
In the short-term loaning out Diangana has weakened West Ham.
Pellegrini has very few out and out wingers, and the youngster is different to almost every other attacking player he has at the London Stadium.
Diangana could have been a real weapon for West Ham as an impact substitute this term, and if they struggle for pace going forward there is no doubt that Pellegrini’s decision to loan the academy graduate out will come under scrutiny.
However, it could yet turn out to be a stroke of genius from West Ham.

If Diangana can get a season of Championship football under his belt, his development is sure to be well served.
Diangana is yet to really play regularly, but he will surely have forced his way into West Brom’s starting line-up now.
West Ham only need to look at how Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes progressed after a loan spell at West Brom last season to realise the potential benefits to loaning out Diangana over the long-term.
And while Pellegrini has definitely taken a risk by letting go of Diangana temporarily, it remains to be seen whether it will prove to be a gamble worth taking or a mistake.
