West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been said to be tracking Everton midfielder Ross Barkley for much of the summer so far.

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley wants a huge contract if he is to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Barkley is said to be holding out for a £150,000-a-week salary, which would make him Tottenham’s top earner.

Spurs have a strict wage policy in place, which means that they do not pay their key stars more than £100,000-a-week.

And if Barkley is demanding big money to move to Spurs, then surely the move will be off.

Tottenham are highly unlikely to budge to Barkley’s demands, which leaves the Everton midfielder’s future uncertain.

Barkley has been linked with a £50 million exit from Everton for much of the summer so far by the Daily Mail, but he is limited in his options.

Tottenham have been named as his main suitors, but with doubts emerging over that transfer he may have to look elsewhere.

And it could just be that West Ham United turn into Barkley’s best option now.

West Ham have been linked with Barkley in the Daily Star, and they are prepared to pay the sort of money which the England international wants.

The Hammers have been linked with Javier Hernandez in the Daily Express, and they are willing to pay him £145,000-a-week.

West Ham were also set to offer Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud £130,000-a-week, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

And with Barkley hunting a similar sort of pay packet, it may just be that West Ham have now become the attacking midfielder’s best option, if he is motivated by money.
