West Ham are reportedly interested in Celtic star Olivier Ntcham.

West Ham United have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Celtic star Olivier Ntcham this summer, but does that suggest that Pedro Obiang is set to leave the club before August 9’s deadline?

French newspaper L’Equipe say that West Ham are keen on signing the 22-year-old midfielder, who has shone at Celtic since completing a £4.5million move to Brendan Rodgers side last summer from Manchester City.

Ntcham scored an excellent goal for Celtic on Wednesday night in their Champions League qualifier against Norwegian side Rosenborg, and that has seemingly prompted West Ham into action.

They have enquired over the player’s availability, with Ntcham renowned for his physicality, lung-busting stamina and a wide-ranging array of passing in the middle of the park – as well as the ability to get forward and score goals.

The former Genoa loanee has scored 10 goals in 51 Celtic games, and his style of play is very similar to that of West Ham star Obiang – who has been heavily linked with a return to Italian side Sampdoria.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed Sampdoria have made an £8million offer for Obiang, with Manuel Pellegrini perhaps willing to allow the Spanish midfielder to leave the Hammers.

With West Ham making an enquiry for Ntcham, does there interest in the Frenchman suggest that Obiang is set to leave the club with an offer on the table?

Certainly, Obiang has had an indifferent time at West Ham, with injury preventing him from developing any kind of consistency. Fans, at times last season, were very frustrated with his displays.

Ntcham would be the perfect replacement for Obiang in terms of style of player, and with an enquiry made, surely that suggests West Ham are on the lookout for Obiang’s successor.
