Tottenham speed machine Georges N’Koudou has joined Burnley on loan, which could benefit West Ham.
West Ham United’s chances of luring Burnley’s Scott Arfield to the London Stadium in the January transfer window could have been given a huge boost by an unlikely source.
Tottenham Hotspur have allowed Sean Dyche’s side to complete the loan signing of French speed machine Georges N’Koudou until the end of the season, which could see 29-year-old Arfield fall down the pecking order at Turf Moor.
The Independent claim West Ham are eyeing a £2million move to sign the Scotland-born Canada international, as he enters the final six months on his contract with the Clarets.
It is believed that Burnley have offered Arfield a new contract to remain in Lancashire, but West Ham are said to be willing to offer the former Huddersfield Town ace an even better offer.
David Moyes is expected to be busy this month as he looks to bring in the players capable of boosting West Ham’s fight against Premier League relegation come May 2018.
The Scot believes Arfield could be that man, as he continues to prove effective for Burnley in the Premier League. But with N’Koudou signing, Arfield may want to leave as his game time is likely to be effected – which could boost West Ham.
Arfield’s two goals this season have single-handedly earned his side four points, scoring in the 1-1 draw at Anfield as well as the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Watford.
He is able to play anywhere in midfield, sitting deep or indeed as an advanced playmaker as well as possessing the speed and footwork to be able to have an impact from the flanks.
Mainly used as a left-winger this season, N’Koudou’s favoured position, Arfield could now find himself falling lower in the pecking order and that may boost West Ham’s chances of nabbing his signature before 11pm on January 31.
