Tottenham Hotspur completed deals for two new signings on Tuesday.
Tottenham Hotspur have today announced their second summer signing – a club record – in the shape of Tanguy Ndombele.
But in doing so, might Spurs have inadvertently harmed their chances of landing a third?
According to Ndombele’s previous employers, Lyon, Tottenham have agreed to pay a potential fee of £62.8 million for the central midfielder.
And it looks like some of that money could be on its way to Sampdoria, as Lyon chase a deal for the Spurs-linked centre-back Joachim Andersen.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Andersen and were reported by Tuttomercatoweb, as recently as last week, to be the only club willing to pay the £31.26m fee needed to sign the Denmark international.
But according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Lyon have today taken ‘steps forward’ in their pursuit of his signature.
Di Marzio, the respected Italian reporter, adds that the two clubs are continuing to negotiate and are ever closer to an agreement, which could be struck at €25m (£22.4m) plus bonuses.
And without Tottenham’s money, it may be that the above would not be possible.
