Serie A outfit Bologna have no choice but to sell a number of players this summer with Everton, Southampton and Newcastle United planning a raid of Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side, as reported by Fanta Calcio.
Even Juventus and Inter Milan are being forced to scrimp and save during an era of unprecedented financial uncertainty; reports suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku could be sacrificed to keep two of Italy’s biggest clubs afloat.
With the whole of Serie A struggling to come to terms with this COVID-afflicted world, Bologna’s hopes of keeping a talented crop of players together look decidedly slim.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier in April that Everton are keeping tabs on the versatile Japan international Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Newcastle are also long-time admirers, having sent scouts to watch Tomiyasu back in September (Chronicle).
Calciomercato then reported a few months later that the Magpies still had their sights firmly fixed on Bologna’s Asian sensation.
So Mihajlovic’s bombshell is unlikely to go unnoticed at Goodison Park or St James’.
“We have to sell by force of circumstances, then we’ll see who (goes),” the Bologna manager admitted with a sigh.

“It depends on the market, not on us. I hope nobody buys from our team, even if there are many strong young players in the squad.”
Alongside Tomiyasu, the dynamic Sweden international Mattias Svanberg is also a man in high demand heading into the summer transfer window.
Calciomercato reported last week that Leicester City and Southampton are keen on the £18 million-rated midfielder.
