Speaking to ESPN, Tyson Fury has had to make a very tough decision as he was asked whether he prefers Liverpool or Manchester City.

The heavyweight boxing champion is a well-known Manchester United fan, so choosing between Liverpool and City is not a decision that Fury would have enjoyed making.

However, despite his Red Devils affiliations, Fury says that he prefers Liverpool to City because he correctly predicted that the Reds would beat City in their recent meeting and he won a wager that he had staked on the Anfield outfit at the time.

Fury prefers Liverpool

“Liverpool or Manchester City?” Fury was asked.

“Liverpool or City? I suppose I’ll have to say Liverpool because I bet on Liverpool when they beat City and they did and I won,” Fury said.

United’s biggest rivals

This must have been painful for Fury to admit as a Manchester United fan, and it’s also somewhat surprising to hear.

One of Tyson Fury’s biggest rivals from back in the day was David Price, a known Liverpool supporter, and Fury would happily taunt the former Olympian about the Reds back in the day.

Meanwhile, Fury is great friends with Ricky Hatton – one of the most well-known Manchester City fans in the media, so it’s a bit of a shock to hear that he hasn’t sided with the Cityzens on this occasion.

Fury’s colours are nailed to Manchester United, but he did recently show a bit of interest in purchasing Morecambe FC, so perhaps he will begin supporting the Shrimps instead of the Red Devils in the near future.
