For the first time since his breakthrough 2016/17 season under Nuno Espirito Santo at FC Porto, Andre Silva has broken the 20-goal barrier.

And it is fair to say his journey back to the top has not been straight-forward; one with more ups-and-downs than Michael Keaton’s filmography.

After a disastrous spell at AC Milan and a forgettable stint with Sevilla, Silva has been a man reborn in the Bundesliga.

Eintracht Frankfurt are on the verge of Champions League qualification for the very first time and, while the likes of Filip Kostic and Daichi Kamada have played their part, there can be no argument about the identity of Adi Hutter’s star man.

With 23 goals in 26 Bundesliga games – 24 in total – the Portugal international has never looked better, sharper or more ruthless.

And it was only a matter of time before those reports emerged, linking Silva to a reunion with the coach who gave him his big break all those years ago.

According to BILD, in February, Nuno’s goal-shy Wolverhampton Wanderers side are, inevitably, interested.

In fact, Wolves have been linked, on and off, for the last three or four seasons now.

But with Sport1 reporting that Frankfurt will sell their irrepressible number nine for a bargain £25 million – honouring a gentleman’s agreement they made when Silva first arrived at the Commerzbank Arena – this feels like an opportunity too good to miss.

By the way, did we mention that Silva is a Jorge Mendes client?
