Graeme Souness claims Antonio Conte has “without a shadow of a doubt” improved Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Matt Doherty at Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to Sky Sports Football.
The Anfield legend questioned whether the trio previously had “any life at Spurs” before being transformed by Conte.
Eric Dier has been a regular under the Italian and is the leader without the armband at the back.
Meanwhile Davies, a left-back by trade, has been used on the left of a back three, with Doherty, prior to his injury against Aston Villa, starting to pick his form up during the past few weeks.
Souness praised Conte for doing what a manager should do every time he gets a new job – improve what is already at the club.
“A manager’s job when he goes into a football club is to improve the players,” said Souness. “Without a shadow of a doubt, he has done that.
“He made people like Dier all of a sudden look like he should be back in the England team. Doherty and Davies (too).
“People who you looked at and thought ‘have they got any life at Spurs going forward under this manager?’
“He has made them individually better and collectively a lot better.”

Putting an elite coach in charge of your club produces world-class results and that’s what Tottenham fans are currently witnessing.
From Son Heung-min, possibly playing the best football of his career, Harry Kane back to his best and Tottenham’s new signings settling in like snow.
That previous outburst by Conte after Spurs were beaten at Burnley seems a long time ago now.
At that stage, only Brentford had lost more games in 2022 than the north London club.
But, fast forward to today, and only Manchester City and Liverpool have picked up more points since Conte’s arrival in November.
