Speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has shared what he knows about Arsenal and Matheus Cunha.
The Gunners have been linked with Cunha after Gabriel Jesus picked up an injury that will likely see him sidelined for three months.
The north London club certainly need a new striker if they’re going to keep up their current title challenge, and Cunha is a player that may well fit that bill.
However, according to Jones, Arsenal aren’t preparing to go all-in on the attacker just yet, stating that the club are waiting to see if the right opportunity arises with this player.

Arsenal playing the waiting game
Jones shared what he knows about Cunha.
“If you’re Arsenal and looking to make the right decisions that define a title challenge, nothing can be dismissed or given up on lightly. That’s why they’ll have their eye on situations like this one (Cunha).”
“They’re biding their time is how I would read it. They’re waiting to see if there’s an opportunity here.”
Can’t waste time
While being patient in the transfer market is often very wise, Arsenal really can’t afford to dilly dally here.
Every game they have without Jesus or a replacement, they’re risking dropping points and when you’re battling with Manchester City for the Premier League title, every point counts.
Make no mistake about it, City will smell blood in the water if Arsenal begin to wobble, and they need that alternative attacking option to stabilise themselves.
It’s easier said than done, but in an ideal world, Arsenal will have a new signing over the line on January 1st.
