Sheffield Wednesday’s season is going from bad to worse.

Not much has gone right for Sheffield Wednesday this season.
Off the top off my head, they opted to produce their own kits which arrived more than two months late, laid off the previous medical team only to find themselves with nine players sidelined for their most recent league fixture, oh, and they were soundly beaten by their city rivals in the first meeting of the two sides for more than five years.

Opening up a real ale bar beneath Hillsborough’s south stand is about their only saving grace so far.
But in allowing their one of their loaned out players to appear in this season’s FA Cup, have the Owls dropped yet another bollock?
Sean Clare has featured in all three of Gillingham’s fixtures in the competition, ruling him out of any of Wednesday’s upon his return to Hillsborough in January.

It may seem insignificant now, but with Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee, Barry Bannan, George Boyd and Fernando Forestieri all currently sidelined, the Owls’ midfield may need all the help it can get next month, especially given the fixtures ahead of them (Sheffield United, Cardiff City and Middlesbrough, consecutively).
Carlisle could have been the perfect opportunity for Clare to stake a claim at Hillsborough. And if he can’t then – will he ever?
Should Clare be given a chance in Sheffield Wednesday’s first team?
