Have Rangers got a better deal signing Jermain Defoe?

Bournemouth did not waste any time replacing new Rangers signing Jermain Defoe.
Defoe left The Cherries to sign with Rangers on a 18-month loan, before Bournemouth signed Dominic Solanke for £19 million.
Yet Rangers may feel they have got the better of the deals, certainly this season at least.
Steven Gerrard was linked with bringing Solanke to Ibrox on loan, Talksport claimed.
This was only on loan, and once it became clear teams were willing to pay big money to sign the striker permanently and Liverpool were willing to sell, Rangers were immediately ruled out of the running.
Bournemouth have invested a lot of money in Solanke, in the hope he will pan out a success.
Solanke is a bright talent, but one who flattered to deceive in his chances at Liverpool, scoring only once.
The Cherries hope to unlock his potential, but the pressure is on.

Rangers meanwhile have little to lose with their deal to sign Defoe on a 18 month loan.
Defoe is a proven commodity and will be able to come in and make an impact right away.
Even if Rangers had signed Solanke on loan, there would not be this level of excitement at Ibrox which the addition of Defoe has sparked.
In five or six years time, Bournemouth may well be justified paying up for Solanke.
Over the next 18 months, there is every chance Rangers get more out of Defoe.
