Tottenham Hotspur’s hesitation in the transfer market has seen them out done by Roma once again.

Roma have moved in to swoop for winger Malcom, with SkySports reporting an agreement has been reached with Bordeaux for the player’s signature.

Roma’s sudden intent to sign the Brazilian has been sparked by in injection of cash from Tottenham’s Premier League competitors Liverpool.

The Reds paid a world record fee for a goalkeeper to sign Roma’s Brazil number one, Alisson.

The fact it looks set to cost Tottenham their chance to sign Malcom comes as an added bonus for the Reds.

Malcom has been on Tottenham’s radar since they submitted a bid for the 21-year-old back in December, UOL Esporte reported, which was rejected with Bordeaux refusing to sell mid-season.

Just last week French website Le10Sport claimed Tottenham got back in touch with Bordeaux and Malcom’s representatives to sound out his situation.

Spurs may have been sitting back and using him as a fall-back option, but that is an option which will no longer exist to them.

Tottenham only have themselves to blame for being too hesitant, and not acting with the same intent that Roma have, agreeing a deal within days.

If they can see off late interest from Barcelona, then Roma will have Liverpool to thank for providing them with the cash to sign a player who could be their Mohamed Salah replacement.
