Was not moving for Mohamed Salah a mistake by Tottenham?
Last summer Tottenham Hotspur made an error by not pushing the boat out to sign winger Sadio Mane.
Mane told The Mail earlier this year that Spurs made an attempt to sign him from Southampton but backed off as he did not fit into their wage structure.
Mane signed for Liverpool for a figure just above the fee Tottenham later paid for Moussa Sissoko, and the difference was huge.
The winger scored 13 goals in 27 Premier League games, leading Liverpool to a top four place, and netting twice in a 2-0 win over Spurs.
For Tottenham he could have been the difference between beating Chelsea to the title and finishing second.
Now it appears Liverpool may have done it again.
The Reds paid a club record £36 million to sign Mohamed Salah from Roma after he netted 15 goals in Serie A last season.
Last night he scored in an impressive pre-season friendly display against Bayern Munich, following up his eye catching early form.
The 25-year-old is exactly the type of player Tottenham need in their attack if they are going to make the jump from nearly men to title winners.
Tottenham have added nobody this summer, and if they are not careful then Liverpool’s duo of Mane and Salah could fire the Reds to overtake them in 2017/18.
