Leeds United should’ve been all over Aden Flint this summer.

Leeds United are two weeks away from the start of their Championship season and a lot of work still needs to be done.
The Whites have made some eye-catching signings in the form of Helder Costa, who has joined the club on loan from Wolves, while Jack Harrison has also re-signed for the 2019-20 campaign.
But there have also been some departures and none more notable than Pontus Jansson, who joined Brentford earlier this month.
He was a massive player for Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa last season and there’s no two ways about it, United must replace him. They have already signed Ben White – again, on loan – but he hasn’t kicked a ball in the Championship and you wonder whether the Elland Road club missed a trick with Aden Flint.
The 30-year-old has just joined Cardiff City in an initial £4 million deal [BBC Sport] and for that price, Bielsa should’ve been all over it.
Flint, who stands at 6’6 [Sky Sports], is a monstrous centre-back – two inches taller than the Swede – with plenty of Championship experience and, really, Leeds should be kicking themselves here.
Finding a suitable Jansson replacement will be difficult, especially when there’s only two weeks before the season starts, and there is a lot of Leeds fans who will believe that Flint would’ve been an apt replacement.
United haven’t spent any significant money on a permanent signing this summer, but Flint would’ve been a cracking start.
