Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has reportedly attracted the attentions of Newcastle United recently.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho’s latest comments could have offered Newcastle United further hope in their chase of Luke Shaw.
Newcastle are said to be preparing a bid for Shaw in the summer transfer window (Daily Star), as Rafael Benitez looks to add quality to his squad at St. James’ Park.
And Mourinho’s stinging criticism of Shaw, which was published in the Daily Mirror, could well have pushed the England international closer to the Old Trafford exit door.
“It’s difficult for him to be on the bench,” Mourinho said, “because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Matteo Darmian, with Daley Blind.
“I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition.
“I cannot compare. He’s a long way behind.”
Shaw’s future with the Red Devils looked in doubt before Mourinho’s latest comments, but the former Southampton man’s departure seems almost inevitable now.
Shaw has made just seven starts for Manchester United in the Premier League this season, with Mourinho favouring other options.
Newcastle are likely to need to be in the top flight to have a chance of signing Shaw, as there is likely to be a scramble for his signature.
If Shaw did move to Newcastle, he would be in competition with Paul Dummett for a starting spot.
